Pea salad is one of my favorite side dishes! Well let me be honest I may or may not make pea salad and just sit down and eat it. It really is that good. I tell myself it has peas and cheese so I mean I am getting something nutritious.
But this pea salad recipe makes the perfect side dish for:
- cold cut sandwiches
It is also the perfect dish to bring to work potlucks, church, or summer BBQ’s. And as I said to just eat!
Creamy Pea Salad – Summer Side Dish
This is a great recipe to let the kids join in and help make! Mixing is my kids favorite cooking task and it is so important for them to learn how to cook.
Pea Salad Recipe
This is a creamy and tangy delicious peas salad that is perfect for a side dish for snack.
- 1 lb Bag of frozen peas
- 1/3 cup Miracle whip
- 1/2 cup Diced onion
- 1/2 cup Cubed cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup Diced bread and butter pickles
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
- 1/2 tbsp Paprika
You can just let your peas thaw but I prefer to boil a small pot of water and put the frozen peas in it for just a minute and the drain and rinse with cool water to stop cooking.
You can use real mayo if that is what you prefer but I am a miracle whip kinda girl!
Once you have drained and rinsed your peas, and cut up your ingredients you simply mix it together! It is so easy and so yummy.
You can eat it right away but I prefer to let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour. This pea salad never last but a day in our house but it would not last longer than 2 days.
I really hope you love this pea salad just as much as we do. It is a staple in our house and is made weekly!
My 3 year old loves frozen peas, like not cooked just frozen! Who am I to crush her vegetable loving dreams! So when ever she asks for some frozen peas I make some with the rest of the bag.
Where did this recipe come from?
I developed this recipe on my own after getting some pea salad from a local grocery store that was just delicious. The ingredients were listed on it and I just went about on my own to make it myself! I added the paprika because we like paprika a lot!
Plus it adds some extra nutrients to the side dish not to mention how pretty it looks. Colorful food is good food!
